How to Connect Your Instagram Account to Lefty
Step-by-Step Connection Guide
Navigate to your Creator Dashboard on Lefty.
Click on the Connect Instagram button.
You will be redirected to the official Instagram login page to authenticate.
Log in with your credentials and click Allow on the permissions screen.
You must allow all requested permissions for the connection to work correctly.
Once approved, you will be automatically returned to Lefty. Your account status will update to Connected.
Why is this required?
The new official login flow is required to:
Verify Ownership: Instagram requires proof that you own the handle you are linking.
Protect Your Account: Prevents others from claiming your profile.
Ensure Accuracy: Prevents typos and duplicate profiles.
A Note for Existing Users
If you connected your Instagram account prior to this update, you may be prompted to reconnect using this new flow the next time you log in. This is a necessary step to upgrade your account verification to the new security standard.
Troubleshooting & Errors
If you encounter an issue during the connection process, refer to the table below for solutions to common error messages.
Error Message | Meaning & Solution |
"Your Instagram account couldn’t be linked" | Cause: You likely clicked "Cancel" or did not grant all necessary permissions.
Solution: Please try the connection process again and ensure you click Allow on all permission prompts. |
"This Instagram account is already linked..." | Cause: The Instagram handle you are using is already connected to a different Lefty user profile.
Solution: Check if you have a duplicate account. If not, contact support. |
"Something went wrong while setting up..." | Cause: A temporary communication error occurred.
Solution: Refresh the page and try again. |
Access Revocation
If you remove Lefty’s access via your Instagram/Facebook settings, your account on Lefty may still appear as "Connected" for a short time. Lefty runs regular automated checks and will update your status to "Disconnected" automatically once the system detects the access has been revoked.
